That button is used to check for bracket mis-matches in the scriptfile. If you are scripting something more complex, you want to use the check-mark button (or ""-button in older mIRC versions) in the upper right corner (see below). The following script will trigger on every "!moo" in every channel and response with "moo00oo00": So if you aren't sure whether it will work or not, just use another (a new) file (look the image below to see how to make a new file).
